Margate Jazz Festival 2019

Great things happening in Margate soon. The legend that is Pee Wee Ellis headlines on the first night of a festivel running from 20-22 September 2019.

Ellis was the co-founder of the JB Horns with Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker, a unit which sat powerfully behind the fired up performances of funk master James Brown.

Ellis performs on the first night, while the second night delight is the delightful UK based jazz singer Leanne Carroll. Theon Cross rounds things off on the final night, performing with his band and presenting an eclectic mix of jazz delights.

A great value event and more info can be found on the festival website at Margate Jazz 2019

Wayman Tisdale Remembered

A very fine Greatest Hits has just been released on the late and very great electric bass master, Wayman Tisdale. Once a top basketball player for the Indiana Pacers, Tisdale turned his hand to the electric bass and delivered nine funky and jazz flavoured solo albums.

This Greatest Hits set is a quality representation honouring a man who was tragically lost to the music world back in 2009 following a brave battle with cancer.
